Chicken Korma


A very tasty and easy to prepare dish. It has a unique flavour too which is sure to attract anyone with its aroma It is not that spicy but has a special blend of spices to create the unique flavor which makes it slightly different from the normal chicken preparations. This dish goes well with appam , ghee rice, chappathy , puttu, parathas as well as pathiri.

INGREDIENTS:
  • Chicken - with bone pieces. 10 nos.
  • Grated coconut - 1/4 cup
  • Poppy seeds- 1/4 tablespoon (soaked in 1/4 tablespoon water for one hour)You can substitute this with cashews too for a richer taste.
  • Spices- 2 cardamom, 3 cloves , half inch piece of cinnamon.
  • Pepper powder- 2 tablespoons
  • Turmeric powder- 1 tablespoon
  • Coriander powder- 2 tablespoons
  • Cumin powder- 1/2 tablespoon
  • Fennel seeds- 1 tablespoon
  • Green chillies- 3 slit lengthwise
  • Mustard seeds- 1 tablespoon
  • Onion - 2 medium sized -sliced lenghtwise
  • Capsicum -1/2 chopped to chunks
  • Yoghurt - 4 tablespoons 
  • Garam masala powder- 1 tablespoon
  • Coriander leaves and mint leaves- 1/4 cup- chopped
  • Salt as needed

How to Prepare: 

Step 1: Wash and clean the chicken pieces. 

Step 2: Grind together the grated coconut and poppy seeds to a smooth paste. Add yoghurt too and grind well.

Step 3: Heat oil in a pan, add all the spices. Splutter mustard seeds , fennel seeds . 


Step 4: Saute the onions till transparent. Add the ginger garlic green chillies ,capsicum and the coriander , mint leaves .


Step 5: Add the chicken pieces , masala powders , needed salt, pepper powder and garam masala powder. 
Add the coconut paste and mix well. 


Step 6: Cover and cook till done.
