Tandoori chicken is a highly popular Indian dish consisting of roasted chicken ,yogurt and spices. This recipe needs a little planning ahead .
INGREDIENTS:
For marination:
- Chicken pieces with bone- 6
- Lime juice- 1/2 tablespoon
- Pepper powder-1/2 tablespoon
- Yogurt- 6 tablespoons (one spoon for one piece)
- Red chilly powder- 1 tablespoon
- Fenugreek leaves-1/2 tablespoon
- Garam masala powder- 1/2 tablespoon
- Cumin powder-1 tablespoon
- Coriander powder-1 tablespoon
- Salt-1 tablepsoon
- Turmeric powder-1/4 tablespoon
- Chat masala- 1/4 tablespoon
- Red colour- a pinch
Step 1 : Marinate the chicken pieces
Clean the chicken pieces . Make a slit in the thicker fleshy part of each piece using a sharp knife. Make a paste of red chilly powder, salt and lime juice and apply the paste into eash slit made.
Mix all the above ,mentioned ingredients and mix well with beaten yogurt . Add a pinch of red colour . Add in the chicken pieces and coat it well with the marinade. Sprinkle few drops of oil on the whole mixture. Refrigerate the marinated chicken in an airtight container overnight.
Step 2:
Thaw the marinated chicken pieces well. Grease a baking tray and lay a bed of potato wedges and carrots in the bottom. Place the marinated chicken pieces above the prepared bed. Sprinkle with oil and lime juice.
Preheat the oven to 400F-450F. Cook for 30 minutes .
Step3: Serve hot with thinly sliced onions .
