Vendakka Pachadi (Ladies finger/okra with curd )

This is a very traditional dish usually served in the Kerala Sadhya. I usually used to make the simple pachadi with just coconut paste in curd and seasoning it. Sometimes I use chopped cucumber too which is also tasty. But recently I had this wonderful dish from a friend of mine ,Pavitra when she invited for a lunch in her house. I liked it and wanted to try it out . And yeah it came good for me too. Its very simple , try it out.

INGREDIENTS:
  • Okra/Ladies finger/vendakka - 5 small or 3 medium sized
  • Mustard seeds- 1/4 teaspoon
  • Uradh dal -1/4 teaspoon
  • Curry leaves for garnishing
  • Red chilly-1 broken into pieces
  • Coconut- 5 tablespoons
  • Green chillies- 4 chopped finely
  • Cumin seeds/jeera- 1/4 teaspoon
  • Salt as needed
How To Prepare:

Step 1: Dry grind Coconut with jeera and green chillies. Add the beaten curd/yogurt to it and mix gently for one round. Keep it aside adding enough salt.

Step2: Heat oil in a kadai, splutter mustard seeds and add uradh dal, saute till it becomes brown. Add the ladies finger chopped to thin round pieces and saute well till its stickiness leaves and becomes crisp. Add the curry leaves and red chilly.

Step3: Mix the seasoning into the curd coconut mix prepared earlier. Serve with boiled rice.
