Pappadam Pazham

This is one of the popular item in a North Kerala vegetarian lunch meal. Although it is very simple and uses the day to day ingredients , the final result is so tasty and filling. It is made with ripe bananas and crumbled pappadams (Kerala pappadam). It is usually the starting item of a lunch meal that is served in plantain leaves. You will be served the plantains and the pappadam and the guests prepare their own dish on the respective plantain leaves, the taste of all gives a unique flavor . Once you taste it I am sure you will become addict to this flavorful dish. the trick behind the taste is you should make this on your own and have it fresh  or else the bananas would turn brown and the pappad will become soggy.

My hubby is an expert in making it . For Vishu he made it for me  and it was really tasty as he had also added in the most important ingredient in it - lots of love! Here the photos are his preparation ones.

Serves 2

INGREDIENTS:
  • Bananas - 2 ripe and sweet
  • Sugar - 3 tablespoons
  • Ghee - 2 tablespoons
  • Pappadam- 5

How to Prepare:

Step 1: Mash the bananas with your hands. Little bit lumps are ok as there is no hard and fast rule in making this.

Step 2: Crumble the pappadams.

Step 3: Add sugar to the mashed bananas and then mix well.

Step 4:Add the crumbled pappadams on top of the banana preparation.
Step 5: Sprinkle some ghee on top and serve.
