Creamy pasta with gravy (Italian style)


This is an Italian style pasta dish which uses white sauce . I used the Alfredo sauce , but you can also make it at home. It is a light , tasty dish which can be served in a party . Kids will love it . You can alter the spice level according to the guests and then it becomes everyone's favorite. The original recipe is known as Pasta Basila as it uses Basil leaves in the recipe. But I like the flavor of cilantro more and used it instead . You can also use parsley leaves for better flavor.

INGREDIENTS:
  • Spaghetti - one box.
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic - 4 pods finely chopped
  • Red chilly flakes- 2 tablespoons 
  • Onions- 1 medium -finely chopped
  • Tomato- 2 medium - finely chopped
  • Vinegar- 2 tablespoons
  • Cilantro - 1/4 cup
  • Salt as needed
  • Alfredo sauce 
How to Prepare: 
Step 1: Boil 10 cups water in a wide container. When it is at bubbling stage add the spaghetti. Add two drops of olive oil and three tablespoons salt while cooking . This is to prevent sticking to each other . 


When the pasta is cooked drain the water and run cool water to stop cooking. 


Transfer it to a colander till water is completely drained and then later spread it in a plate till use. 


Step 2: The gravy
Heat olive oil in a pan. Add the chopped garlic and saute till it is cooked. add the crushed red chillies and saute well. Add the chopped onions and saute well till it turns brown. Add the chopped tomatoes and saute well till it is well cooked. Add salt and vinegar and cook till it attains a gravy form. allow it to cool and blend to smooth paste adding cilantro. This is the pasta sauce or gravy. 


Step 3: While serving heat all the three ingredients - the pasta , gravy and the alfredo sauce separately. Serve some pasta onto a plate. Spread some gravy in top in the center. Add some Alfredo sauce on top. Again heat it in microwave. Serve hot.
