Masala Murgh



This is a North Indian spicy chicken masala with a good blend of all Indian spices . I do not know what exactly the recipe for this dish is because like all Indian dishes this too had a variety of recipes and methods to prepare when I checked for it. Here I have given a simple yet tasty recipe for a spicy Masala Murgh . It is a good to go dish with rice or any bread varieties .It is a very quick dish too in case you have any unexpected guests at home , they will be surprised by the yummy and presentable dish .

Serves 4

INGREDIENTS:
  • Chicken -washed and cut into small pieces- 10 nos. (I took boneless thigh pieces )
  • Potato- one big cubed
  • Tomato- 2 medium chopped fine
  • Onion- 1 medium sliced lengthwise
  • Ginger- an inch piece chopped fine
  • Garlic- 4 pods chopped fine
  • Green chillies- 4 chopped fine
  • Shallots(Pearl onions)- 2 chopped fine
  • Turmeric powder- 1/2 tablespoon
  • Red chilly powder- 2 tablespoons
  • Lime juice- 4 tablespoons
  • Garam masala  powder- 2 tablespoons
  • Salt as needed
  • coriander and mint leaves for garnish

How to Prepare:

Step 1: Grind together ginger-garlic-green chillies- shallots to a smooth paste without adding water. 


Step 2: Marinate the chicken pieces with this paste together with chopped tomatoes and salt and keep for 20 minutes. 


Step 3: Add turmeric powder and red chilly powder and marinate again. Add the cubed potatoes to it. Cook without adding water and covering with a lid for 30 minutes or till the pieces are cooked well. 


Step 4: Heat oil in a pan and saute the sliced onions till it turns light brown. 


Step 5: Now remove the lid and add lime juice and garam masala to the cooked chicken pieces. Stir well.
 Add the sauted onions to the gravy and mix well.


Step 6: When the gravy is almost done add the chopped leaves and mix well. 


Step7: Serve hot with rice or any bread varieties.
